Overview
Introducing an appraisal system can be daunting. Existing appraisal systems are often ineffective. This course aims to help you address both issues.
Purpose
The aim of this course is to help appraisers and appraisees introduce an effective appraisal system or improve the effectiveness of an existing system.
Specific Learning Objectives
By the end of the session you should:
- feel comfortable about appraising others and/or being appraised
- be aware of the reasons for the introduction of an appraisal system
- understand how this supports the firm’s Quality Management System (QMS)
- have considered what contributes to an effective appraisal meeting
- understand the benefits of agreeing ‘SMART’ work-related objectives
- understand how to identify individual learning and development objectives
- understand the benefits of undertaking a prior self assessment
- be familiar with the firm’s appraisal form and related instructions
- have learnt what can go wrong with an appraisal
- have had opportunities to express your concerns about appraisals
- receive answers to your questions during the session
