147. Law Society fined again (June 2008)

Zahida Manzoor, the Legal Services Complaints Commissioner, has once again fined the Law Society; this time £275k.

The Law Society has a track record of failing to satisfy Ms Manzoor and this is the second fine in two years.

Their complaints handling plan is inadequate according to Ms Manzoor.

The Law Society disagrees, seeing their LCS as "an effective complaints handling body" - but then, they're not the commissioner.

How hard fines of £1/2m hit the Law Society is debatable. But ultimately the LCS's failures are paid for by solicitors.
