140. Zahida and Deborah - different colour specs? (July 2007)Zahida Manzoor, the Legal Services Complaints Commissioner has again blasted the Law Society. And this is despite their speeding up of complaints handling. "I welcome the improvements in how quickly complaints are handled ". So what's the problem this time? Quality of complaints handling by the Legal Complaints Service. In fact, according to Manzoor, the way some complaints are handled doesn't even meet the Law Society's own standards. Meanwhile, the view from Chancery Lane, according to the LCS's CE, Deborah Evans is that "The Legal Complaints Service is improving year on year" and "will become a shining example of how customer service should be done". However, Zahida holds the big stick and the Law Society may have to brace itself for another fine like the £1/4m already levied by Ms Manzoor.
