Whilst for most solicitors in England and Wales Lexcel is the obvious choice ISO 9001:2008 is more adaptable to the needs of some niche, City and international firms. For them Lexcel can seem inflexible, wooly and lacking in rigour when compared to systems built to ISO 9001:2008 standards.
ISO 9001:2008 meets many law firms' quality management requirements. It is a more robust and better defined standard than Lexcel, but can be harder for lawyers to understand.
