ISO9001:2008

Amongst purchasers of legal services, larger organisations around the world - in both the private and public sectors - increasingly look for quality assured suppliers. ISO 9001:2008 is recognised worldwide as the independently audited generic quality management standard. It is the Rolls Royce of quality standards, rigorously developed over the years by the International Organization for Standardization. Some of your clients may see it as more credible than Lexcel.

Whilst for most solicitors in England and Wales Lexcel is the obvious choice ISO 9001:2008 is more adaptable to the needs of some niche, City and international firms. For them Lexcel can seem inflexible, wooly and lacking in rigour when compared to systems built to ISO 9001:2008 standards.

Benefits

ISO 9001:2008 meets many law firms' quality management requirements. It is a more robust and better defined standard than Lexcel, but can be harder for lawyers to understand. The great benefit is that ISO is internationally recognised by virtually everyone needing international legal services and therefore provides assurance of quality in their delivery.
