Transaction Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS)
What is CQS?
The Law Society's Transaction Conveyancing Quality Scheme is a quality standard for residential conveyancing practices in England and Wales, intended to:
- enhance the reputation of conveyancing solicitors
- provide reassurance about integrity and practice standards
- create a trusted conveyancing community that will deter fraud
- provide a more effective service for clients.
What are the benefits of membership
The CQS is expected to provide credibility with stakeholders including regulators, lenders, insurers and clients. According to the Law Society, it is likely to be a prerequisite for acceptance onto lender panels.
The Law Society claims this conveyancing kite mark will:
- increase consumer awareness of the importance of using a qualified conveyancer
- develop high standards of professionalism and competence
- help practices to improve marketing and business development opportunities
- reassure clients, lenders and insurers that your practice is financially sound and well managed
- reduce your practice’s operational risk and improve its quality and efficiency
- help to reduce negligence claims and minimise PII rates and the difficulty of obtaining cover
- help your practice to prepare for the move to e-conveyancing
Preparing for CQS?
In response to requests from our clients, we have developed a new tool that will help you prepare for CQS registration.
It focuses on the "Core Practice Standards" of the Conveyancing Quality Scheme, making it much easier to meet the requirements quickly.
Furthermore, because it is based on the Lexcel standard, this simple tool provides a stepping stone to readiness for Lexcel accreditation for those firms that may want it in the future.
Minimise the pain
Find out how your practice can meet the CQS requirements earlier and more easily, and become a CQS conveyancer more quickly.
